ALPS MOVE

ALPS MOVE is a festival for local dance-forms in Southern Tyrol. ALPS MOVE is a platform for contemporary dance and action theater, bringing  various dancers onto the stage of various cities (Lana, Bolzano, Brunico or Appiano).

The festival is an initiative of the  „Südtiroler Tanzkooperative“ (Southern Tyrolean dance-cooperative) - a consolidation of local artists who are active in the field of contemporary dance. It is ALPS MOVE’s goal to promote local dance and to establish it as a permanent cultural event in the Southern Tyrolean culture- scene.

Parallel to this, ALPS MOVE wishes the local dance- scene to reach out beyond the local-regional borders and establish international relations. For this reason, ALPS MOVE has exchange projects  with, for example,  Berlin, Ferrara, and Bilbao. As well, ALPS MOVE works together with international choreographers.

Youth is also the focus of ALPS MOVE’s attention: Jugend tanzt (Youth dances) has school performances thereby familiarizing the young generation with the art of dance. Young dancers are also brought actively on stage.

Dance affects the outlook of the places in which it is performed. It changes them. After a dance performance, one no longer recognizes the place - so writes Jacques Derrida in his choreographies.

In this sense, ALPS MOVE would like to change Southern Tyrol.

PROGRAM

GENDER PLAY is an ironic choreography, that does not forget the difficulties of being born in the wrong body. The dancers play the with feminine and masculine unconscious. Exchanging costumes and roles, they analyze clichés and experiment with a physicality that differs from their own one. By doing this, they acknowledge the struggle that a person faces when obliged to represent something that he/she is not.

Fucinadanza is a semi-professional company of dancers and actors from different artistic backgrounds founded in 2007, when its members were working with choreographer and director Martina Marini on new forms of expression in the field of Dance Theatre.

Idea produces over 20 years projects in the field of dance, theatre and performance. Doris Plankl and Remo Rostagno have been working together for many years and share their curiousity in universal themes and movement research.

An interdisciplinary project that blends together music, dance and theatre. The six musicians of "Cortinas Orquesta Atipica” present their music by means of a ‘dance-theatre’ performance. In their performance music becomes the storyteller.

Cortinas Orquesta Atipica refers to the world of the Argentinean Tango. A Cortina is the musical section that closes a musical Tanda, a group of 4 tangos by the same composer or from the same period. The Tango orchestras are often referred to as “Orquesta Tipica”. Cortinas Orquesta Atipica aims to bridge the gap between music and poetry and act as a meeting point between various musical cultures.

The show is inspired by the concept behind Carl Jung’s Anima and Animus, two anthropomorphic archetypes of the unconscious mind for which in the unconscious of a men this archetype finds expression as a feminine inner personality (anima) and in the unconscious of a woman it is expressed as a masculine inner personality (animus). In dance these opposite archetypes move longing for an harmonic union of complementary strengths. Everything revolves around the dualism  of man/woman and the attraction that exists between the two genders, which causes a complex and arduous coexistence.

Riccardo Meneghini trained at a number of different dance schools, including the Accademia Isola Danza at the Venice Biennale and Transitions at the Laban Centre in London, where he obtained a diploma with merit in Performance. He has worked with choreographers such as Carolyn Carlson, Russell Maliphant, Rui Horta, Didi Veldman, Janet Smith, Liv Lorent and many others.

Eight is inspired by the number 8, by the harmony of its perfect shape and its meaning. A sort of fictional journey into evolution, where the complexity of the human being is laid bare; its dual instinct, and the many-faceted connections that surround him are highlighted in this performance.

The Ripe and Ruin represent the decay and the rebirth, le circle of life and the act of leaving, necessary elements leading to change.

Born in Nalles, Marion Sparber has been working as a freelance choreographer, dancer and dance teacher for many years in Berlin. She trained at the “Iwanson Schule” in Munich and at Varium in Barcelona. The duet Eight is her first creation in collaboration with Nerea Martínez Martín. The videos were filmed and edited by Keren Chernizon (Projeto SOLO).

A mirror reflects your image, the image of the other. We are naked, present and vulnerable.
Mirror(s) investigates the representation of the body and of the subjectivity of women’s contemporary thoughts. Two performers and some volunteers deal with personal experiences and themes concerning the value of gender differences, and the shape of the relationships among the world of undefined identities. The audience is brought close to a sensitive listening zone, and shares the vulnerability of the desires and the body.

Founded in 2013 by dancer Jesus Lezameta and performer Silvia Morandi, the Errante Teatro Danza company’s focus is the body and the relationship between individual, environment and society. The company regularly teams up with Gabriella Maiorino, the internationally acclaimed choreographer who works in Holland, Italy, France and Brazil.

The choreography is based on the dialog between man and machine; the tension that exists between  mind, heart and action. It is a work that underlines the emotional, creative and stubborn nature of the humans, focusing on each of this characteristics throughout the piece. Both music and musicians are part of the performance. This highlights the exchange of information between dance and music, which become one. All songs, carry a specific message, and through the choreography, widen their meaning.

Evelin Stadler studied at the Folkwang University of Arts in Essen, Germany and she has worked for many years as a dancer for different companies and theaters in Essen, Berlin, and Muenster. Since 2005 she has created mostly her own work as a choreographer and dancer, which she performs in Germany and Italy. She lives and works in Kassel, Germany.

UMRISSE VOM ICH ODER DU What defines ourselves? How do we set our an others limits in our relationships? What fills our existence and what do we exclude from it? Bringing together dance and literature, the artists try to find an answer to these questions, dealing with political and social topics and the complex relation between dance and language.

Sarah Merler is studying contemporary and classical dance at the Conservatory of Vienna. Although she is still immersed in her studies, she nonetheless has successfully created her own pieces, as for example "Schaufenstertanz" in Tanz Bozen.

LA NATURA NON CHIEDE PERMESSI On one side stands the wise and instinctive nature: the biological mechanisms, the physiological  and universal needs. On the other side there are rules, social barriers, cultural models, ideologies and the intellectual control. What happens if these opposite forces do not have a meeting point?
At the center of this performance stands a trapped body, which moves within these dialectical tensions and experiments its limits and possibilities.

Santija Bieza was born in Latvia. She studied theater production at the University of Rome 3 ( D.A.M.S.) and at the University of Rennes, during which she also worked as a dancer, performer, and actress for various productions. Her work is largely influenced by performance-arts in which various modes of expressions are utilized. She lives and works in Bolzano.

SEE 2016 is a performance that is based on contemporary dance and takes advantage of research methods that study movement as a tool to make the audience have a visual and conscious participation/ involvement. Movement and gravity are key; the observation, of each movement and each natural pattern of the dancing body, at the exact moment of their creation.

Born in Seoul, South Korea Yungjung Kim has studied dance since her childhood. She graduated at the European Dance Development Center (“Hoogeschool voor de Kunsten”, Arnhem / Netherlands) in dance and choreography in 2003. Since then, she has been creative as a choreographer and dancer, performing her own pieces. She lives in Meran.

Salvation investigates scenarios of “redemption” giving birth to both an art-installation and a performance. The installation reproduces a small, gloomy and rosy feminine universe, inspired by the room in the tower of the Sleeping Beauty. The performance stages a fairytale: the protagonist waits for the salvation call of her prince; the endless wait,  nonetheless, becomes the emblem itself of a romantic contemplation.

VonPiderZuHeiss is a theatre workshop founded in Vienna in 2009.  From the outset, its main focus has been dance forms and the human body, paying particular attention to choice of music. Within the overall framework of contemporary theatre, the group has recently begun creating works of its own. The name derives from those of its members: Nora Pider, dancer, performer and actress, and Anna Heiss, director and scriptwriter. They are often accompanied by the composer and musician, Julian Angerer.
